The decorator
I’m Stephen Wheelhouse. I’ve spent more than thirty-five years painting and decorating — and I still judge every job by the same measure: how it looks up close, and how well it lasts.
My work takes me across Surrey and West Sussex — the kind of homes where the detail matters and a proper standard is simply taken as read. Boot rooms to bedrooms, kitchens to drawing rooms, every room gets the same care, whether it’s seen by everyone or no-one at all.
A good deal of my work comes through trusted trade relationships — builders, joiners, designers and architects who only put forward people they’d have in their own home. The rest comes from clients asking me back.
I work on my own, so you deal with me throughout — the same person who quotes the job is the one who finishes it. Every job is done by brush and roller, hand-finished. No spray equipment, no cutting corners. For the homes I work in, that is simply the better method.

Most of a beautiful finish is in what you don't see. Filling, sanding and making good is never rushed — it's where the quality is decided.
Dust-sheeted, masked and tidied each day. You should be able to live alongside the work and barely notice I've been.
The right paint, the right method, the right order of works — said plainly. I'd rather give you good advice than an easy yes.
