Who I am

This website is run by Stephen Wheelhouse, trading as S Wheelhouse Painting & Decorating (“I”, “me”), a painter and decorator working across Surrey and West Sussex. I am the data controller for the information you provide here. You can reach me on 07879 817753 or through the enquiry form.

What I collect

When you complete the enquiry or quote form, I collect only what you enter:

• your name;
• your phone number;
• your email address;
• your town or area;
• and the details you choose to tell me about your project.

My website host also keeps standard technical logs (including IP addresses) for a short time, to keep the site secure and to prevent spam and abuse of the form.

Why I collect it, and my lawful basis

I use your details for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry, arrange a visit where needed, and provide a quote. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest (and, where you are asking me to quote for work, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract). Security logging relies on my legitimate interest in protecting the website.

I do not use your information for marketing, and I do not sell or share it with anyone for their own purposes.

Who it’s shared with

Your enquiry is delivered to my email inbox through my website host and email provider, who process it only to pass your message to me. Beyond that, your information is not shared with any third party unless I am required to by law.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry emails for as long as I reasonably need them — to reply, to carry out any work, and for my own business records afterwards. Where an enquiry does not lead to work, I delete it once it’s clearly no longer needed, and in any case within around 24 months of our last contact. Technical security logs are kept only briefly.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask me to:

• show you the information I hold about you;
• correct anything that’s wrong;
• delete your information;
• restrict or object to how I use it;
• and provide it to you in a portable form.

To exercise any of these, just call or email me and I’ll deal with it promptly. If you’re ever unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It uses only what’s strictly necessary for the pages to load and the form to work securely.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle your information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
