01 — Introduction
I’m Stephen Wheelhouse. For well over three decades I’ve painted and decorated homes across Surrey and West Sussex — work judged by the closeness of a line, the depth of a finish, and how it lives for years to come.
From town houses and family homes to large country properties, most of my work comes through recommendations — from clients I’ve decorated for before and the trusted trades I work alongside: builders, joiners, designers and architects who only pass on names they’d stand behind.

Every job I take on, I carry out myself. No teams, no subcontractors, no apprentices left to get on with it — the person who quotes your project is the same one who finishes it. It’s the only way I can stand behind the result.

All sorts — from town houses and family homes to large country properties across Surrey and West Sussex. I've spent thirty-five years working in period houses, boot rooms, drawing rooms, kitchens and bedrooms. No project is too specific, and no room is too small to deserve being done properly.
No — every job is done by brush and roller. I hand-finish all of my work. For the period homes and fine properties I work in, that's always the better method: more control, cleaner edges, and a finish that actually improves with age.
It varies considerably. A single room might take two or three days; a full house can take anywhere from several weeks to several months, depending on its size. I always provide a realistic timescale in the written estimate.
Yes — I supply all paint and materials as part of the job. I'll advise on the best products for each surface and room, and everything is included in the written estimate. If you have a particular brand or colour in mind, just let me know and I'll work with that.
Yes, I carry full public liability insurance for every project.
