Shere is regularly called one of the prettiest villages in Surrey — a conservation area of timber-framed cottages and period houses set among the Surrey Hills. I decorate throughout the village and its surroundings.
Decorating in Shere
Shere’s cottages are old and characterful: exposed timbers, uneven plaster and fine period joinery, in a tightly protected conservation setting. The decorating has to suit that — patient preparation, careful colour and a hand finish that flatters age rather than hiding it.
In a village as protected and picturesque as Shere, the finish has to be quietly right. I prepare thoroughly and finish by hand, in keeping with the character of these old houses.
